Montway Inc Transport Operations Director in Schaumburg, Illinois

Scope of Job:

Manage logistical operations and activities aimed at improving transportation methods and systems. Responsible for optimizing shipping logistics, conduct in-depth research and analysis to maximize profits, ensure cost efficiency, compliance standards, and legal issues are all accounted for. Develop and implement processes and programs for all inbound/outbound domestic and international shipments, and operations coverage needs. Build the team and advance their skillsets to create integrated solutions that will add value and will drive highly beneficial results for customers, employees, and management. Plan and design new systems for shipping or product turnarounds. Deal with complex issues such as trade, tariffs, or customs at the international level, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, analyze, design, develop and implement methods, processes and procedures to improve logistical needs, maximize savings, enhance delivery timelines and enhance field resources.

  • Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, or tracking transportation vehicles, such as cars, vans, SUVs, or trucks.

  • Oversee Supervisors and logistics specialists, monitor staff?s daily work to maximize productivity.

  • Monitor operations to ensure staff members are in compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, environmental policies, or government regulations, in order to ensure that company?s goals and objectives are being met.

  • Oversee US Operations, Bulgarian & Macedonian Office Teams to ensure best practices and compliance with Montway?s standard operating policies and guidelines. Implement customer service strategies and excellent approaches to deliver magnificent, exceptional service.

  • Evaluate shipping methods, products turnaround or carrier options, compliance with safety standards, and ensuring carriers comply with government regulations.

  • Use financial models to assess the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of alternative methods and review legal issues regarding possible new methods in order to ensure compliance with government regulations.

  • Review international trade, tariffs, customs and other regulations governing commerce and transportation.

  • Create action plans to leverage strengths and achieve objectives, such as negotiating better rates, terms or service.

  • Institute and implement directives, standardizing measures and training staff; develop training materials via electronic resources e.g., video, streamline, audio and view-master.

  • Perform personnel evaluations, resolve staff issues and lead conferences, seminars and meetings. Partner with HR regarding Employee Relations Issues.

  • Create budgets, monitor costs and make formal presentations to Management.

  • Provide Management with Statistical Data Analysis on Transport Department?s Performance and make proactive decisions to improve the performance of the Department.


  • Associate?s Degree or foreign equivalent degree.

  • 2 years? experience in Manager positions in Customer Service with knowledge and/or experience in logistics and delivery.

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week; M-F, 8:00 a.m. ? 5:00 p.m.

RATE OF PAY: $62,920.00 per year
