Elgin Fasteners Shipping/Receiving Clerk in Rockford, Illinois


Supervising the receiving of raw material and MRO from vendors; Supervise shipping of finished product; Managing Shipping and Receiving Personnel.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises personnel to ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures and directives.

  • Capable of receiving inbound MRO, tools, dies & lubricants, raw materials & secondary processing shipments.

  • Coordinates inbound shipment documentation with quality control, accounts payable and shipment arrivals with customer care.

  • Coordinates secondary processing shipments; may include transportation and expediting with third party service providers.

  • Coordinates incoming calls with the correct department.

  • Operates material handling equipment.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement.

  • Other duties as assigned

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing/office environment. Must be able to operate a computer/keyboard, ability to use the phone, and sit for long periods of time. Communicate using speech, hearing, and vision skills. May also work occasionally on the production floor requiring the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours are 6AM-2PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.


This position may require up to 5% travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • At least 4 years of experience with ERP/MRP systems, shipping and receiving

  • At least 4 years of experience with transportation coordination and documentation, receiving and scheduling and performance metrics

  • Experience with supervising shipping and receiving personnel

  • Experience working in the fastener or metal industries (preferred)

  • Experience working with suppliers of die tools, drilling, turning, plating, heat treating, nylon inserts and grinding (preferred)

  • Ability to multi-task and monitor personnel with accuracy in a fast passed and interrupting environment

  • Detail oriented, meticulous, innovative and organized

  • Active communicator and ability to work with cross-departmental teams and the plant manager
