The Senior Supervisor – Military Distribution is responsible for all aspects of the Military shipping process in the Distribution Center. The Senior Supervisor supports other areas of the distribution center activities and leads a team of bargaining unit employees meeting all daily military shipments. The Senior Supervisor sets day-to-day goals, oversees all military shipping activities in the distribution center and supports Commercial shipping process when needed.
Essential on-site role located in the Rockford, IL facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee the military shipping process in the Distribution Center.
Ensures all material is processed efficiently during the pick pack ship process.
Trains direct reports to ensure policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed.
Assigns daily work to employees, and ensures workload is completed in a timely manner according to customer expectations
Works with vendors to ensure proper materials are on hand to meet all military packaging standards
Ensures employees are following standard work to ensure inventory is accurately stated.
Responsible for employees following job instructions and ensuring all shipments are packed according to commercial or military standards.
Troubleshoots aging deliveries and works with internal customers to reconcile discrepancies.
Works with Quality in order to make sure all quality requirements are being met.
Manages the efficient movement of material from receiving, to stockroom, to pick, to packaging, and through the shipping process
Manages material inventory by utilizing internal logistics software.
Ability to read and decipher Military packaging codes, and specifications, and develop packaging instructions to adhere to contractual requirements
Partners with Industrial Engineering on packaging strategies and ensuring the distribution center is following all customer requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Military Standard-129 and Military Standard-2073
SAP Experience
Microsoft Office experience
Supervisory experience in a union environment
