Material Handler III (CLS) (2nd Shift)



Provides warehouseservices assigned through safe, efficient, cost effective and accurate handlingof customer products and material using specially equipped trucks such asslips-sheet, clamps and reach. This position may involve all phasesof loading, unloading, staging and storage of customer's product as well as theuse of computer equipment.


This position isresponsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Loading & Unloading

  • Load picked orders or(pull & load) according to policies and procedures, completing appropriatepaperwork including Bill of Lading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit and LotVerification.

  • Unload, move, stack andstage customer products and materials both by hand and using forklift or otherpower equipment, keeping appropriate records and reports.

Pulling Orders

  • Accurately locate andload, both by hand and using appropriate motorized equipment (i.e. forklifttruck), customer product onto/from pallets, trays, racks and shelves accordingto established procedures and safety regulations. Is able to operate specialequipment as necessary, such as a turret clamp and slip sheet equipment and RFunit (if applicable).

  • Count, weigh and recordnumber of units of materials handled on daily production sheet.

  • Complete specializedorder processing for loading by stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping,labeling and consolidating as required on order.

Operating &Maintenance - Equipment and Grounds

  • Assign / verify trailersto appropriate dock and/or yard location, trailers locked to dock-lock and/ orchocking the wheels (if applicable), following all safety rules and Companypolicy.

  • Daily inspect and repairor make adjustments before operating tow-motor vehicles, following safety andmaintenance instructions, completing the tow-motor inspection sheet at thebeginning of each shift and/or assigned to another piece of equipment; reportimmediately any defective equipment to supervisor.

  • Prepare trailers priorto loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed to ensure productpreservation.

  • Assists in building andgrounds maintenance to ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean, neatsafe and orderly manner.


  • Complete activity andstatistical reports as assigned by supervisor.

  • Assist in physicalinventories ensuring facility and contents are secure.


  • Provide other servicessuch as sanitation requirement activities, assembling crates (boxes) to containproducts, and/or moving loose materials to containers as directed by supervisorand/or team leader.

  • Apply the 5S Leanmethodology to sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility.

  • Position requires theincumbent’s performance to meet and occasionally exceed standards as set by thecompany for warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivityand customer service.



  • High School degree orequivalent required

  • Two (2) yearsforklift/tow motor experience required including forklift certificationpreferred.

  • Knowledge of inventorycontrol and general warehouse procedures.

  • Light data entry skillsrequired

  • Ability to read andcomprehend basic instructions, to interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions and procedures

  • Ability to operateforklift – both sit down and stand up, tow motor, motorized and non-motorizedpallet jack; clamp, reach and slipsheet.

  • Ability to write legibly

  • Must have basic mathskills

  • Ability to makedecisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use

  • Must have attention todetail for continuous mental and visual attention

  • Data entry skills

Additional Knowledge,Skills & Abilities

  • 1-2 years warehouse orrelated work experience preferred

  • RF experienced preferred
