General Warehouse II Lead – McCook, IL

We’re looking for a motivated General Warehouse II Lead to coordinate warehouse operations in our McCook, IL distribution center! This position is responsible for assisting the supervisor with day-to-day operations in the Receiving Area, including receiving and stocking both raw and finished goods, pulling raw materials for production, putting away finished goods, pulling branch replenishment, and shipping product to other Lawson distribution centers.

Attends and participates in regular team and cross-functional meetings, including the daily pre-shift department Tier 1 meeting.
Participates in continuous improvement activities, such as our Lean Six Sigma projects and initiatives.
Communicates with supervisor regarding daily objectives and updates.
Plans and coordinates resources within the department to achieve daily metrics.
Helps plan the carryover metrics, enters the numbers on Tier 1 meeting board, completes the carryover and other department reports on the computer.
Masters all department functions. Takes on basic functions that are assigned from the department supervisor, including processing the carry-over and counting items received.
Assists warehouse personnel as needed. Works with employees, helping the department trainer train employees within the department.
Processes information through our SAP system.
Maintains direct involvement with the non-conformances, either coordinating or processing holds into the system and removing non-conformances once completed, including misdelivered cartons and exceptions coming back from packaging.
Participates in Lawson's Lean process and any activities needed to achieve the Lean goals, initiatives and continuous improvement.
Works to maintain and achieve the warehouse safety goals, policies and helping employees to work in a safe environment.
Troubleshoots basic conveyor and machine issues.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED, plus three years' experience in warehouse receiving functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Forklift operator license required.
Able to safely operate all material handling power equipment safely, i.e., forklift, power walkie, skid wrapper, etc. (training provided as necessary).
Comprehends and retains new information and functions quickly. Able to comprehend work instructions.
Able to operate computer equipment, including radio frequency devices and PC.
Able to process information through the ERP computer system.
Possesses basic math, English and computer skills in Microsoft Office
Able to communicate in a clear, concise manner while listening attentively to others, understanding material and providing instructions to employees.
Shows an interest and aptitude to move from frontline work into the first stage of management.
Shows leadership capabilities and the willingness to work with others.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move greater than 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Has to be able to read numbers/letters and quantity color dots for quantity changes. Other vision required for stocking boxes on shelves and to drive the high low or forklift trucks.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with noise from conveyors, air ducts, forklifts, Delta machines and door alarms.
Must wear approved safety shoes and other Personal Protective Equipment as required.
