Position Description:

Position Summary:

The Supply Planning Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting a team of inventory planners. Some individual Distribution Center responsibilities are required (inbound freight management, balanced inventory levels, forecasting, promotional planning, etc.) but focus will be on ensuring department goals are met, analyzing data, implementing improvements, standardizing protocols, creating training programs, developing people, and ongoing projects. The role will support Management in Centralized Purchasing in strategy creation and execution while collaborating with the other team leaders across the department.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to direct team

  • Ensure department performance goals are met

  • Continuously improve the inventory planning to successfully manage the complexities of the customer’s needs

  • Create a culture of innovation and process driven to support customer initiatives and Martin Brower strategic plans

  • Maintain optimal safety stock levels to ensure no breaks in supply to restaurants

  • Identify and action product code date concerns

  • Monitor overstocks and take appropriate action to resolve pending issues

  • Partner with other Distribution Centers on resolving inventory issues; coordinate branch transfers as necessary

  • Arrange contingency shipments or branch transfers to ensure adequate inventory in Distribution Centers

  • Forecast sales by employing available tools to replenish Distribution Center inventories while adhering to minimum order quantities and inbound freight parameters.

  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of promotional and seasonal sales patterns to assist in the selection and use of forecasting tools

  • Ensure accurate system maintenance for all ordering parameters

  • Calculate and implement seasonal and promotional sales lifts and post promo sales decreases

  • Ensure seamless integration of new/changed items into regular purchase planning while maintaining optimal inventory levels

  • Work with Distribution Centers to manage product flow based on space constraints and receiving schedules while maximizing Inventory turns

  • Maintain appropriate supplier lead times while minimizing rush orders/changes

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Maintain effective communication networks with Distribution Centers and all system partners

  • Perform analysis using historical data to help determine, recommend and negotiate order multiples with suppliers

  • Perform analysis on Key Performance Indicators (order changes, short lead times, and transfers)

  • Lead weekly team pod meeting

  • Assist in weekend, vacation, and holiday coverage as needed

  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-4 years of experience in Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, or Shipping and Receiving; OR High School Diploma and 5+ years of experience in Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, or Shipping and Receiving

  • Proven analytical, organization, and time management skills

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer skills – including EXCEL, WORD, knowledge of JDE an asset

  • Proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multitask

  • Strong business and financial acumen skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong team player

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
