Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network Warehouse and Inventory Control Manager in Itasca, Illinois

This position will serve the organization in areas of inventory management, shipping, receiving, supply management, instrument sterilization, and environmental control of in-house operating suites. Involved in developing, modifying and executing organizational policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Provides leadership and management to one or more major departments. Integrates Gift of Hope’s core values into daily work decisions, and actions; exhibits behavior supportive to this institution in all interactions.

General Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a team of Supply Chain Specialists and Sterile Processing Coordinators

  • Manages the recruitment and training of new departmental employees

  • Manage assigned staff including selection, scheduling, job duties, training and development, performance evaluation, recognition, promotion, disciplinary action and termination

  • In conjunction with Department Head, plans, develops and manages departmental expense and capital budgets

  • Effectively interface with other management and departments to promote overall Gift of Hope goals

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Provide leadership and support to the following functions:

Warehouse and Inventory Control:

  • Manages inventory tracking system to record deliveries, shipments and product levels to improve inventory control procedures and promote organizational efficiencies and cost-savings

  • Manages schedules of employees, deliveries, and shipments to optimize operations

  • Works collaboratively with Manager of Transportation to effectively manage incoming deliveries to the dock and warehouse

  • Manages inventory counts for all departments

  • Works collaboratively with Finance to ensure proper accounting and cost controls

  • Monitors industry trends, best practices, and regulatory issues as they relate to specific area(s) of responsibility and shares learnings, as appropriate, with direct reports

  • Works in conjunction with Purchasing Contract Coordinator to develops business relationships with suppliers and clients

  • Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics

  • Monitors demand and analyzes data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs

  • Reports on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management

Central Supply and Sterile Processing:

  • Oversees in-house operating rooms to ensure optimal environments for tissue procurements

  • Oversight of tracking, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and instrument trays associated with tissue recovery

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements as it pertains to sterilization, quality assurance and required documentation

Education and Training Required

The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or relevant work experience (Health care setting preferred)

Experience and Skills Required

The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Minimum of five years of managerial experience necessary to develop staffing patterns, budgets, policies and procedures, and to evaluate and provide for the development of personnel

  • Strong knowledge of the principles and procedures of decontamination, sterilization, aseptic technique, and regulatory standards

  • Experience working with inventory management software and forecasting strategies

  • Experience conducting tracking and data analysis

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Leadership and management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Critical thinker, problem solver and team-oriented

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
