Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Ability to achieve CPR Certification REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION JOB GOAL:To provide safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school or on field trips. Performance Responsibilities: Maintains assigned schedule;Maintains current, up-to-date record of authorized students;Transports only authorized students;Discharges students only at authorized stops;Maintains discipline when students are on bus;Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority through "Bus Conduct Report" or direct conversation with Director of Transportation, parent, principal, or designee;Obeys all traffic laws;Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses;Performs mandatory pre-trip, student check and post trip inspections for every route.Notifies the proper authority in case of equipment failure;Keeps assigned bus clean and fueledContacts all parents with pick up and estimated drop off times at beginning of the school year, and throughout the year as necessary.Reports all accidents, complete required reports and cooperate with investigating authorities in which bus is involved;Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district field trips;Maintains accurate and up to date route books, including seating charts and route notes.Attends annual workshops sponsored by the Regional Office of Education or other agencies, when notified by Director of Transportation.Performs all inspections using the electronic inspection system properly and consistently.Follows all department procedures and policies as outlined in department handbook and any updates and addendums as added throughout the year.Assigns and maintains student seating chart, if assigned route does not have monitor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regular Routes Able to climb 3 stairs, 3 feet in height, multiple times a day;Able to sit 5 hours a day (1 to 2 hours per route);Ability to open and close school bus door (multiple times per day depending on the number of riders);Ability to get from the driver's seat, down a 12" aisle, to the rear emergency exit door in a "timely manner";Ability to set and release parking brake at every stop (could be as many as 220 times per day);Ability to apply pressure to the gas pedal and/or brake pedal; (and clutch if necessary)Ability to do a pre-trip inspection and a post trip inspections (which requires bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, etc.);Able to open and close windows from the inside of the school bus;Ability to carry children from the bus (weights and sizes vary);Ability to exit rear emergency door. Infant/Toddler and Preschool Routes Ability to lift 35-40 lbs. into car seats;Ability to move or adjust wheelchairs;Able to confidently and efficiently secure children in safety restraints (position of hands). Flex Driver Must be able to perform all duties essential for all routes. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 174 Days Classified position salary and hours to be established by the Board of Education. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions established by the Board of Education.
