Broetje Automation Shipping and Receiving Clerk in Elk Grove Village, Illinois
Shipping and Receiving Clerk executes and oversees sending, accepting and recording the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock to and from the warehouse. In addition to tracking inventory and keeping records, this role also performs incoming and outgoing inspection of merchandise as specified in our quality procedures, shipment packaging and loading and other related duties in accordance with established safety procedures.
Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices and other shipping documents for domestic and international deliveries including the classification of goods delivered
Make freight carrier selection decisions per company guidelines.
Receives merchandise - checks and signs delivery slips, and assists with unloading as necessary
Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods
Uses a caliper and other measuring tools for inspection of incoming materials
Accepts or returns merchandise according to established company procedures. Affixes receipt tags and any additional information that?s necessary per company guidelines
Organizes distribution and shipping of merchandise. Makes necessary verifications against documents, unpacks and routes goods to appropriate storage areas and persons
Must be properly trained/certified on the forklift and crane and be able to use the hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods as necessary
Maintains internal record-keeping systems
Contacts resource people for various information. Contacts transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions
Knows safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials
Knows proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods
Takes inventory, maintains storage area, organizes and places stock on shelves. Ensures area is secure at all times.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strong sense of time organization and urgency
Able to work independently and within a team
Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50lbs
Performs stooping, standing, reaching on a regular basis
Use of UPS and FedEx systems
