Customer Logistics & Dispatch – ARTCO – Decatur, IL

This is a full-time, exempt-level position.

Description:

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join the ARTCO commercial team in Decatur. The primary duties and requirements for this position are listed below. The principal function for this customer facing role entails the coordination of barge movements and placements along a specific segment of one of the major waterways in North America. The proper candidate will have a customer service mindset and be willing to work and learn in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties:

  • Communicate with internal and external customers and personally handle any associated issues

  • Schedule barge traffic and pickups with Artco line boats

  • Communicate with 3 rd party customers and partners such as towers and fleeters

  • Coordinate with appropriate internal teams, such as sales, on barge availability and needs

  • Attend and represent ARTCO at various internal, external and customer events

  • Forecast and communicate barge needs

  • Assist with various administrative and other duties when needed

  • Learn other dispatch duties to assist when needed

  • Communicate with operations and safety teams each day as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to customer service and relationship building

  • 2 year degree in related field required plus 2-5 years’ experience in related field

  • 4 year degree in Business Administration or related field preferred

  • Previous barge or dispatch experience would be beneficial

  • Weekend rotation is required (every 7-8 weekends)
