The Assistant Transportation Coordinator will perform transportation activities throughout the day assisting the Transportation Coordinator. Coordination of outbound shipments with various carriers including execution of freight and drop ship quotes, preparation of all shipping paperwork including BOL’s and other documents as needed while meeting carrier pick-up times. A coordinator of the 3PL communication and shipments. This candidate will be a key contributor to the daily success of meeting and exceeding customer service level expectations while effectively collaborating with internal departments.

Essential Functions & Principle Accountabilities

  • Maintain outbound LTL and Full Truckload workflows throughout the day working with Dock Personnel

  • Provide freight rate and drop ship quotes as requested

  • Schedule loads and service orders for shipments while maintaining customer satisfaction and meeting Service Level Agreements and Cost Initiatives

  • Partner with carriers as needed including follow-up on pick-times and providing all necessary information ensuring highest service level performance. This includes small parcel, LTL and Full Truckloads

  • Coordinates as point of contact for 3PL

  • Create and process all necessary shipping paperwork

  • Communicate potential shipment delays related to weather or other

  • Ensures highest level of quality and integrity of each shipment meeting ISO 9000 standards

  • Using various programs upload necessary SLI, ASN and other information

  • Partner and Collaborate with Warehouse Leadership and various departments

  • Communicate status updates throughout the day

  • Complete reporting at end of day

  • Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same

  • Complete required quality inspections

  • Meet productivity and accuracy goals

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • 3-5 Years Previous Transportation or Logistics Experience in a Distribution or Manufacturing environment

  • Must have International Shipping Knowledge and Experience

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to handle pressure and deadlines changing priorities as needed

  • Navision-research data

  • Very good computer skills and knowledge

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work overtime when needed

  • Forklift and Equipment Operator Experience

  • Familiarity with RF Scanners

  • Observe & act in accordance with all applicable laws & regulations & company policies

  • Ability to follow instructions/procedures

  • Ability to read & interpret documents

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to follow through on all tasks

  • Team Player

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age

  • Must pass the Drug Test

  • Must pass the Background Check

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
