ITW Distribution Supervisor in Bartlett, Illinois
The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of warehouse inbound and outbound activities as well as leadership, guidance and direction to individuals at assigned location. Additional duties include safety program leader, scheduling of labor, attendance, productivity, quality, and process improvement.
Manage the inbound and outbound team - assuring orders are picked and shipped on time based on divisional and customer requirements, containers and trucks are unloaded/put away in a high-volume environment.
Utilize ITW Toolbox tool and concepts in decision making. Lead continuous improvement projects with attention to employee involvement.
Analyze labor capacity required to cost effectively provide resources based on customer order volume and manage temporary labor.
Implement standard operating procedures for the picking and put away processes to simplify operations focusing on cost reduction through process improvement and meeting customer requirements.
Train associates in warehouse procedures including WMS/ IT systems, safety procedures, inventory accuracy and material handling equipment.
Maintain associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings: maintain on-going interaction: keep open communication channels with associate’s morale; and submit and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement.
Develop and ensure that KPI’s meet both DC objectives and customer requirements regarding safety, quality and productivity. Measure compliance to KPI’s and implement corrective actions to achieve required results. Publish and communicate results to associates and facility leadership.
Develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness and measure against performance management objectives.
Bring outside experience to implement best practice throughout facility.
Lead and promote safety program for facility. Responsible for employee awareness and participation, training, and fulfillment of OSHA and company compliance requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics or related field, required.
5-10 years’ experience in high volume distribution environment with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of an inventory management system, preferably Navision.
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Practitioner of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques and practices necessary to embrace ITW Toolbox and drive continuous improvement.
Demonstrated experience in leading behavior based safety programs.
Ability to generate respect and trust from team and other stakeholders, along with the ability to work collaboratively with staff/colleagues to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
Willingness to flex work schedule based on company needs
Hands on working knowledge of distribution, warehousing, and transportation disciplines
Experience with OSHA and quality systems; OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification preferred.
Bilingual, (Spanish) preferred.
